Smoke / Soot Damage
Smoke and soot damage due to a fire happens very frequently. This before and after picture set is an example that illustrates the layer of smoke, or soot, which settled on this chandelier. Our team was able to perform a detailed cleaning of the entire home to remove the soot and restore the appearance to previous damage conditions. Soot can be very damaging to the surface of the material, especially smooth or polished surfaces. Since most soot is acidic, the soot can etch or "pit" the material. This can leave visible damage to polished or smooth surfaces. A quick response by the SERVPRO team can prevent further damage and usually restore contents back to previous conditions before the soot damage.
